Wes values insights and input from all constituents as our community and the state of Iowa face issues of concern including education funding, mental health services, water quality improvement, other natural resource and conservation efforts and veteran support funding.
Wes currently works for the Newton Police Department as a Lieutenant. He has previously served as a Prairie City Police Officer, Monroe Police Department Interim Chief and Jasper County Sheriff’s Reserves Deputy.
During his time with the Newton Police Department he has served as a School Resource Officer, DARE Instructor, Drug Task Force Officer and Traffic Safety Officer.
In addition to his public service with local law enforcement he has also served as a member of Newton Noon Kiwanis and SYNC, (Supporting Youth Through Nurturing Communities) member. Wes was an educator with DMACC serving as an Adjunct Professor. He is also works with a local social action committee on Human Trafficking awareness.
Wes is a graduate from Upper Iowa University with a Public Administration degree and also earned a Masters Certificate from the University of Virginia in Criminal Justice.
Wes is married to his wife, Kris of 27 years with three wonderful children. He enjoys the outdoor activities and spending time.
