3030Wes retired in March 2017 as a Lieutenant from the Newton Police Department. He had previously served as a Prairie City Police Officer, Monroe Police Department Interim Chief and Jasper County Sheriff’s Reserves Deputy.  


During his time with the Newton Police Department he served as a School Resource Officer, DARE Instructor, Drug Task Force Officer and Traffic Safety Officer.  In addition to his public service with local law enforcement, he has served as a member of Newton Noon Kiwanis and SYNC (Supporting Youth Through Nurturing Communities).  He has also worked with a local social action committee on human trafficking awareness. 

Wes earned a Master's Degree in management from American Military University and also has a Master's Certificate in criminal justice from the University of Virginia.  He graduated from Upper Iowa University with a degree in public administration.


Wes has been married to his wife Kris for 30 years and they have three wonderful children and a grandson.

I value insights and input from all constituents as our community and the state of Iowa face issues of concern including education funding, mental health services, veteran support funding, water quality improvement as well as other natural resource and conservation efforts.
